English
For English, I thought it would be best to tie the product in process with Self in the Modern World. With that being said, the main project idea was driven by the book “It Ends With Us,” which follows the story of a young girl, Lily, who breaks the generational cycle of domestic abuse. I was able to incorporate that topic idea into my project by creating a poem that specifically talks about emotional domestic abuse in the form of a poem. This poem was in the perspective of the victim, which, in this case was the wife, and it spoke about her and her feelings, as she was being verbally abused, as well as the way that she wanted her daughter to grow from her own experiences. Throughout the process of this project, I researched the reasons behind the author's intentions with “It Ends With Us,” and how the characters displayed their own feelings, while being in such a trigger situation. I also went back throughout the book and looked at the verbiage and representation used within certain scenes. To conclude, the English portion of my project two specifically took a look at the book “It Ends With Us,” and used that stimulus to create a sort of double exposure poem that illustrates the life of a victim of emotional domestic abuse.
Self in the Modern World
As mentioned before, the history portion of my project tied into English as well. I have created a sort of double exposure poem that puts a perspective on the life of a wife, who suffers silently in a toxic relationship that results in verbal abuse. For research purposes, I paid close attention to taking a closer look at domestic abuse, cues, psychological aspects of a victim, and how kids are involved. To elaborate more, most people who stay in relationships, and have children stay together for their children even when there is nothing left in the spouses relationship. I slightly to go look at generational trauma’s and how offsprings or anyone in general can break the cycle.
Art
To go along with the theme of Conrad Fisher, in art, I created a short film to provide symbolism of Conrad personality, based on the research from english, in the place Conrad felt the most safe, the beach. As I was vacationing at the beach, I found way to connect little moments that occur in that area to tie to Conrads faults or unreadable quirks. For example, I put in a scene of footprints washing away to represent the idea of a new beginning starting and and old one ending, one that doesn't need to be seen if needed. And to be able to explain all of my reasoning and context, I created a seperate document that explains my thinking behind each scene. The context is developed through the film and the research conducted all about the process of making a short film and how to show symbolism without being too confusing.
