English For this portion of my project I was able to co-create a product with Global Studies. The main research I have done for this project was finding information on Sarojini Naidu, who is a Bangladeshi poet that supports women's rights. I analyzed her writing techniques and tried to find out her use of personification within her poems. By examining Naidu's writing, I was able to interpret her techniques into my own poem. The poems I pulled context from were "Life," and "Past and Future." Both were about the process of life and how we shouldn't take opportunities for granted. I added contextualization into this product by gathering information about the poets writing and put my own version of writing techniques into my own poem. I also was able to do an interview on my grandmother, who was a victim of child marriage. Overall, I created a poem using the context of Sarojini's poems and an interview done on my grandmother.
Global Studies For Global Studies I collaborated with English to create one product. I wrote a poem that incorporated information from a Bangladeshi poet, Sarojini Naidu, as well as key components from the Bangladesh Liberation War. I was also able to get some perspective of society from my grandmothers point of view. Every stanza within the poem goes back and forth from English to Global Studies. I made sure to get context on how the society interpreted eduction based on the separation between a country caused by the war. My grandmother answered questions targeted to her experience during her own experience and I tied that to factual information I gathered. In conclusion, I was able to use contextualization by putting together a poem using evidence from the Liberation War.
Art For my art portion of the project, I created a portrait of a traditional Bangladeshi wedding dress. I only portrayed a little bit of a dress and interpreted that onto a canvas. I collected key information on different aspects of a traditional dress just so I can gain some sort of context of the history. I applied the information into the materials I used. For example, I used red tool because red is the most common wedding color as well as gold embroidery. I also used doilies to represent the lacing patterns. For this product, I gathered context through the creating and historical aspect of a tradition wedding dress in Bangladesh. To summarize, this product was all about the wedding portion of the deprivation of girls education.
