As graduation is coming closer, I created a poem that is in the perspective of past to present day, showcasing my growth personally and emotionally. I wrote my journey of finding who I am and who I’ve become. I mindfully incorporated the same research from my history portion and implemented the similarities I saw within said book characters into my poem. I added the ways that I specifically connect with them without mentioning them by name. The qualities I shared with one another were interwoven between the stanzas and in the lines where I was reminiscing about my past experiences or feelings. There were also notes of poetic devices, which is where most of my research primarily derived from. All in all, for my final product, I constructed a poem that deliberately displays who I am and who I’ve become over the past four years.
Self in the Modern World
In the last project of the year and my entire Apollo experience, I decided to base my entire project on the questions of “Who am I?” Seeing as that is a very niche and vague question, I wanted to find myself within book characters and combine my own personal experiences/traumas to the personality and traits that the characters acquire. With that in mind for history and art, together, Angel (a peer and friend of mine) and I decided to collectively create a podcast episode that allows us to openly discuss our projects whilst having a stimulating conversation. Within the episode, Angel was almost like my therapist and asked me questions where I then answered and exploited my personal feelings and connections to the characters. My research was targeted towards the character analysis of each character, Lily Bloom, Hermione Granger, Jane Bennet, Anastasia Allen, and Daphne Bridgerton. I also looked into how my home life contributes to my quirks like perfectionism and my OCD tendencies. Overall, the product that was presented was the podcast that used all of my reserach of the characters and how my household changes how I perceive myself, in a discussion form.
Art
As mentioned before, Art and History were brought together to make a final product of a podcast episode with Angely Valentin. This episode took a deep dive into myself and who I am. I explained my personal traumas that occurred by my parents or myself. I then connected those events or traits to research of how my household could've contributed to that as well as the book characters I took the time to analyze. As that was already said, for my art portion specifically, I focused my attention on the videography and production of the podcast itself. Most of my research came from the way that the cameras shouldve been set up, how to keep the audience's attention and what goes into making a good podcast. I watched several podcasts to get a good feel as to how Angel and I could make ours more conversational and as realistic as possible.
